Camp is almost here!! I’m so excited for your camper to join us! I’m praying our time away will really bless your child and bring them closer to the Lord.
We will leave the church at 7:30am on Thursday. And will return around 6:30pm Saturday. Your child will be ready for dinner when they get back.
Some tips/thoughts, in no particular order, for packing:
1.Electronic devices such as phones and tablets are not to be brought to camp. If your camper needs to reach you, they are welcome to call or text from my phone. Any devices brought to camp will be locked in the van for the duration of the trip.
2. Send a paper Bible with your kids. Not an electronic device. If you need one, I can bring one from the church.
3. Kids go to canteen once a day and there is a (consumable) 2-item limit. The most expensive item is ~$2.50. This limit does not include camp merchandise. There are camp shirts for each year, the previous year shirts will be on sale for $1 and $5, current year tees are $15. Use this info to decide how much money to send.
4. I highly recommend sending each outfit in a gal size bag or tied up in a Walmart bag. That way their suitcases don’t end up totally trashed as they look for things. Kids lose clothes as they dig and things fall on the floor, ending up in other peoples bags, etc. The boys cabin is the worst with this.
5. PLEASE send a reusable water bottle so we can keep everyone hydrated.
6. Some days we swim twice. We hang swim suits and towels up on a clothesline. If any of your kids have an aversion to a wet/damp suit, send 2. If they can handle it, 1 works! I recommend one swimming towel and 1 showering towel be sent.
7. Sending a full size trash bag to be used as a laundry hamper is not a bad idea.
8. I have logo drawstring backpacks for all the kids to use at camp and return to me when we get back. This helps to hold their devotion books, bibles, pens, towels, water bottle, canteen money, anything they purchase, etc., as we move from station to station each day. Everyone having the same backpack makes it easier to identify when they’ve been left somewhere.
9.MEDICATION- if your camper needs medication, please give it to me in the parking lot of RCC. Medications MUST be in original packaging.
10. CAMPER MAIL - “mail call” happens daily at lunch. It’s a fun thing- kids names are called as they get letters, packages, etc. If you want your child to receive a letter or package from you, send it with me! If you want to send a package of snacks/candy/etc for the group, we have about 22 kids and sponsors going with our group.
