Man Camp 2024

We'll be backpacking and camping on the beautiful Buffalo National River
at Jim Bluff on the Centerpoint Trail in tents.  
Fishing, Hiking, Swimming, Campfire, and God's Word.

IMPORTANT: There is 0% cellphone service where we are going in the Buffalo National River Valley.  There is no electricity.  Please do not anticipate being able to contact us while on the trail or while camping.  We will contact each parent on our way back that Saturday afternoon to check in, but that’s all.  Boys are encouraged to bring their phones only to take photos and notes.  

What to Pack:
– $40.00
- a 30-40 liter hiking backpack
– an attitude ready to learn, take direction, and be flexible.
– A Bible or bible app that works without cell signal
– A pen
– Bug Spray
– pair of swimming trunks
– a small towel
– small tent or hammock with canopy
– simple sleeping bag
- travel pillow or inflatable pillow
– 1 change of clothing
–  fishing pole if desired (must have a fishing license if 16 or over)
– large water bottle
- water filter (like a "sawyer" style filter - just search amazon or Walmart)
– any medication you need
– good hiking boots or shoes with padding
- river shoes or sandals
- flashlight

Not Required, but Recommended:
– a sleeping pad
– pocket knife
– lighter
– rain poncho
– small first aid kit
– A camera or cellphone for taking photos.
– Sun Screen

What Not to Bring:
 
– Drugs
– illegal or illicit materials
– tobacco
– weapons outside of a pocket knife
– alcohol
– bad attitude

Schedule:
Day 1 (Friday, April 19)
12:00 pm – meet at church
12:30 pm – leave church for Ponca Arkansas
2:30 pm – Arrive at Compton Trailhead and get ready (We'll be hiking from Compton to Jim Bluff for the night)
3:30 pm - Set out on the hike toward Hemmed in Hollow Falls and then Jim Bluff
5:30 pm - stop at Hemmed in Hollow falls
7:30 pm -Dinner and Devo at Jim Bluff
8:30 pm - Make camp
10:00 pm - Lights out

Day 2 (Saturday, April 20)

7:00 am – wake up - breakfast and Devo
8:30 am - free time - swimming, fishing, exploring
10:00 am – break down camp
10:30 am – Head out on Center Point Trail toward "Goat Bluff"
1:30 pm – lunch at Centerpoint Trail Head and last Devo
2:30 pm – leave for RCC
4:30 pm -Arrive at RCC Parking lot

 In the event of an emergency: – Isaac King is the leader of the trip: 479-426-5897. (This may not work since there’s not much signal) – If it is a life and death emergency, you can call the Steel Creek Ranger Station and they will come looking for us…but this is only to be used in the most dire situations.
